Publish Shield

The pre-publish audit for your KDP account. Screen every term against live trademark records, pass the metadata rules, answer the AI questions with confidence, and publish against a saved go/no-go checklist.

One unlucky keyword can take down your whole account. Check first.

Publish Shield is a Claude Cowork plugin that audits a book listing before you hit Publish: every distinctive term in your title, subtitle, series name, and keywords screened against live USPTO trademark records, your whole listing scanned against KDP's metadata rules, and the AI disclosure questions answered correctly, in about two minutes.

Authors lose accounts over one word. Not because they were infringing, but because somebody complained and Amazon acts on complaints without judging them. The listing that word was in doesn't just come down; sometimes the whole account comes down with it, backlist and all.

Two minutes of checking beats two months of appealing.

Sound familiar?

  • You hover over the Publish button wondering if one of your keywords is secretly somebody's trademark.
  • The AI content question stops you cold every single time, and you're never sure your answer is the right one.
  • You've read the horror stories: whole accounts gone over a single word in a puzzle book title.
  • Amazon's policy pages are long, vague, and written like they're daring you to guess wrong.

How Publish Shield works

1
Paste your finished listing
Title, subtitle, series name, keywords, categories, description. One paste, no forms.
2
It screens every distinctive term
Live USPTO records, checked term by term, with a CLEAR, CAUTION, or STOP verdict and the reason in plain English. Every STOP comes with alternatives that keep your hook.
3
Metadata scan and AI answers
Your listing checked against KDP's rules with every fix handed to you, then a two-minute interview that produces your exact AI disclosure answers.
4
Publish against the checklist
A dated go/no-go report saved with your book files. Fix, publish, keep the receipt.

What the shield covers

  • The trademark screen
Every distinctive term checked against live USPTO records. The verdicts know the difference between legal risk and platform risk, because a term can be legally defensible and still get your listing pulled.
  • The metadata policy scan
Banned keyword practices, title and subtitle rules, description rules, category checks. Every flag quotes your exact text and hands you the replacement.
  • The AI disclosure tree
The exact answers for the KDP publishing page, with the reasoning. Puzzle authors: it knows generator software isn't an AI model, and you'll finally answer that question with confidence.
  • The appeal co-pilot
If the worst ever happens, it walks the exact escalation ladder that gets accounts back, drafts every email from your real facts, and keeps a log so it picks up right where things stand, weeks later.

Questions, answered

Is this legal advice?

No, and it says so on every report. Publish Shield is a risk screen built from public records and published policy. A clear result is not a guarantee, and when it says stop, it hands you an alternative or tells you plainly that this one's worth an IP attorney.

What it replaces is publishing blind, which is what most authors do now.

My account is already suspended. Does this help?

Yes. The appeal co-pilot starts with the warning that saves appeals (never publish on another account while one is open), figures out where you are on the escalation ladder, and drafts the next email from your actual facts.

It logs every step, so when you come back a week later it drafts the next move instead of repeating the last one.

I publish puzzle books. Is this for me?

Especially you. Puzzle metadata is where the famous account takedowns happened, and the AI disclosure tree handles the puzzle-specific wrinkle: puzzle generator software is not an AI model, and the answer you give Amazon should reflect that.
