I already own Novella Factory. Do I need Novel Craft?

Only if you want to write full-length novels or a planned series. Novella Factory is built for fast novellas and short reads.

Novel Craft is built for long books in any genre, with the whole series planned first.

Plenty of authors use both: novellas for fast releases, novels for their main series.

What genres does it write?

Any fiction genre: every kind of romance, romantasy, fantasy, LitRPG, urban fantasy, thriller, mystery, cozy mystery, sci-fi, horror, historical, women's fiction and young adult. Heat settings only switch on for romance.

Can I review it chapter by chapter?

Yes. You choose how many chapters it writes before it stops for you: 1 at a time, any number you like (2, 5, 10), a specific range like chapters 4 to 8, or straight through to the end.

Change it any time, and ask it to revise any chapter with your notes before it moves on.

How does it keep a long book consistent?

Everything lives in files in your project folder: the series bible, the outline, a short summary of every chapter, and a running log of who knows what, injuries, objects and story time.

Every chapter is written from those files and checked against them. A new chat carries on exactly where the last one stopped.

Can it write a whole series?

Yes. It plans every book up front, and when you finish a book, it updates the series bible from what you actually wrote and starts the next one from there.

Does it edit the book?

It runs a whole-book story check and a light final polish. For a full professional edit (developmental, line, copy and proofread), it hands your manuscript straight to ProEdit.

Do I need anything special to run it?

Either the ChatGPT desktop app on a Plus plan or higher, or the Claude desktop app on a Claude Pro or higher plan.

Live research uses the free Claude in Chrome extension in Claude, or web search in ChatGPT. Everything else runs without it.

Can I guide the story?

Yes. You choose the concept, approve the series plan and every outline, and decide how many chapters it writes at a time.
